When I first got Mittens from Battersea Cats and Dogs Home she was traumatised. At her previous home she had been terrorised by the family dog and the young children. For days she didn’t come out from under the bed. When she did each extra step into my one bedroom apartment marked a vast improvement. However, Mittens could not bring herself to enter the living room. This was frustrating because in the evening I didn’t see her. She would be alone in the bedroom and I was in the living room.
