Online Cat Behaviour Consultations
Expert feline behaviour support, wherever you live
If you’re struggling with your cat’s behaviour, you can access specialist help from the comfort of your own home. I offer in-depth Zoom consultations throughout the UK, with a personalised written report and six months of ongoing support.
I’m Anita Kelsey, a feline behaviour consultant with over 20 years’ experience, a First-Class BA (Hons) in Feline Behaviour and Psychology from Middlesex University, and full membership of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association.
Now based in Hastings, I work with cat guardians and referring veterinary practices across the UK.
What can I help with?
You may be seeking help with:
- Tension, conflict or aggression between cats.
- Difficult introductions or reintroductions.
- Aggression towards people.
- Urine spraying or toileting outside the litter tray.
- Fear, anxiety or difficulties adjusting to change.
- Behaviour that is affecting your cat’s wellbeing or your life together.
My approach considers the individual cat, their history, relationships, daily routine and home environment. The aim is to understand what is driving the behaviour and develop practical changes that work for your household.
How does an online consultation work?
Before we meet
You’ll complete a detailed assessment form so I can review your concerns and your cat’s history before our appointment. Photographs of your home and videos of relevant behaviour, where safely available, help me understand the environment and how your cat uses it. You should never provoke a reaction to capture it on camera.
I work on veterinary referral, allowing relevant medical information to inform the assessment and ensuring possible physical causes are considered by your vet.
Your Zoom consultation
We’ll spend approximately one to two hours discussing your cat’s behaviour, exploring possible contributing factors and reviewing their home setup and routine.
This is an opportunity to ask questions and talk through recommendations together, so you understand both the changes suggested and the reasons behind them.
Your written report
Following the consultation, you’ll receive a detailed report containing my behavioural assessment, a personalised behaviour-modification plan and prognosis. Your referring veterinary practice will also receive a copy, with ongoing communication where appropriate.
Six months of support
Making changes takes time, and questions often arise once you begin putting a plan into practice. Your booking includes six months of ongoing WhatsApp support, starting from the date of your written report.
You can share updates, photographs and videos, ask questions and receive guidance as we review progress and adjust recommendations where needed.
Is an online consultation suitable for my cat?
An online assessment allows us to explore your cat’s behaviour and home environment using a detailed history, veterinary information, photographs, videos and our discussion.
You don’t need to bring your cat to an appointment or encourage them to appear on screen. They can continue their usual routine while we talk.
If you’re unsure whether remote support is appropriate for your situation, please email me with a brief description of the problem. I’ll advise on suitability before you book. Outcomes vary according to the individual cat and circumstances, and improvement cannot be guaranteed.
Consultation fee
The UK online consultation package includes:
- Review of your completed assessment form and relevant supporting information.
- A Zoom consultation lasting approximately one to two hours.
- A personalised written report and behaviour-modification plan.
- A copy of the report for your referring veterinary practice.
- Six months of ongoing WhatsApp support from the date of the report.
Full payment is required in advance. Fees will be sent upon request.
Information for veterinary practices
I welcome feline behaviour referrals from veterinary practices throughout the UK. Referring practices receive a written behavioural assessment, behaviour-modification plan and prognosis, with communication where appropriate throughout the support period.
Please email info@catbehaviourist.com to request a referral form or discuss whether a case would be suitable for an online consultation.
Enquire about an online consultation
To get started, email info@catbehaviourist.com with a brief description of your concerns, the number of cats in your household and where you’re based.
